7-OH vs Kratom: Which Is Right for You?

You have probably seen “kratom” and “7-OH” used almost interchangeably online — but they are not the same. This guide breaks down exactly how they differ and which format fits your goals.

What is kratom?

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. The leaf has been used traditionally for centuries. Raw kratom leaf contains dozens of alkaloids, with mitragynine (MIT) being the most abundant.

What is 7-OH?

7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) is a naturally occurring alkaloid in kratom leaf — present only in trace amounts in raw leaf but pharmacologically very active. Refined 7-OH extracts deliver a much higher concentration of this single alkaloid.

Dosing

Kratom leaf is dosed in grams (typically 2–8g). 7-OH tablets are dosed in milligrams (typically 15–100mg per chewable). 7-OH is therefore much more concentrated and easier to dose precisely.

Onset & duration

Both formats are digested and have a gradual onset. Chewable tablets may onset slightly faster than leaf tea or capsules.

Which is right for you?

If you want a precise, repeatable, modern format, 7-OH chewables are the best choice. If you prefer the traditional leaf experience, look for raw kratom. NUMBZ specializes in 7-OH chewables — browse the line.

Combining the two

Our 7-OH + MIT Blends combine both worlds: refined 7-hydroxymitragynine plus mitragynine and complementary minor alkaloids for a balanced, full-spectrum profile.
